Washington and Beijing have agreed to extend their 90-day trade truce until November 10, preserving existing tariff rates. The U.S. presidential decree, signed on August 11, suspends planned increases and keeps duties at 30% on Chinese imports and 10% on American exports. This extension builds on the May agreement in Geneva, which established a temporary pause in escalating trade tensions.

Negotiations continue, with Washington pushing for increased Chinese purchases of agricultural goods. Gold remains exempt from tariffs, while other existing surcharges stay in place. China's state-run Xinhua news agency confirmed the extension, aligning Beijing's position with Washington's.

Both nations maintain the dialogue mechanism established earlier this year, providing additional time to resolve outstanding trade issues. The extension avoids an automatic escalation of tariffs that WOULD have taken effect without this agreement.
